Easy 3D Footprint Craft

Here is a great project that will make a keepsake that you will treasure. A 3D footprint is a wonderful treasure to have to remind you of your child when they were young.  You don't have to just make a footprint imprint you can make 3D impressions of hands too!

You will need:

Crayola Model Magic
Food Container (that will fit the foot)
Plaster of Paris
Mixing container
White acrylic paint
Metallic gold acrylic paint
2 paint brushes

1.  Flatten out the Crayola Model Magic into the container.

2.  Make sure all the corners and edges have enough of the Model Magic.

3.  Have the child step into the container to get the foot imprint.  If the imprint is not deep enough, gently press your child's toes and heel into the Model Magic.  Mix Plaster of Paris with water in a separate container (the mixture should be the texture of pancake batter).  Pour the batter into the container with Model Magic.  Let it dry (may take 24 hours to dry).

4.  Once the Plaster of Paris is dried, flex and twist the edge of the container to loosen the footprint from the container.  Flip the container over and gently tap it until the footprint comes loose.

5.  Paint the footprint and mold with white acrylic paint.  Once it's dried, apply the gold paint on to the footprint.

The Plaster of Paris can take 24 hours to dry but it also depends on the thickness of your Plaster of Paris Mix and the humidity.  This is great as a keepsake gift.  We make one every year and we're amazed how much our child has grown.

Sensory Activity: Mint Color Oobleck Recipe

Oobleck is a great sensory activity.  Is it a solid or liquid?  It's a solid when pressure is applied and it turns to liquid when Oobleck is held loosely.   This is a fun project for kids!  Learn how to make it here.

You will need:

Cornstarch
Green (or blue and yellow) food coloring
Measuring cup
Water
Large container

Add 2 part cornstarch, 1 part water, and 3 drops of green food coloring.  I used 2 cups of cornstarch, 1 cup of water, and 3 drops of green food coloring.  Then mix well.

Once mixed, it's ready to be played with.  YAY!

You may wade it up into a ball or into different shapes.

You may squish it around when it's liquid.
